Ultrafast Broadband to Martinborough……7 yrs or 20yrs away?

December 16, 2014 December 2014 Comments Off on Ultrafast Broadband to Martinborough……7 yrs or 20yrs away?

Martinborough is not on the current Government program for providing Ultrafast Broadband (UFB or Fibre) that finishes in 2019. We do have fibre into the main Chorus exchange, to the Martinborough School( including Dublin St from the school to the intersection with Jellicoe St) and the Pinot Grove subdivision.

The National government has made an pre-election pledge to inject up to $210 million”  dollars more into their UFB program but has yet to decide the policy framework that would ultimately determine who gets the benefits of the extra investment. … Continue Reading

Squash Club at National Champs

December 16, 2014 December 2014, Sports Comments Off on Squash Club at National Champs

Squash-Club-Super ChampsOctober 15-18 2014 saw the Martinborough E Grade ladies team in Christchurch for the National E Grade Squash tournament, representing the Wellington region. At the same time, the E grade men’s teams from both Masterton and Red Star were at the same venue, also representing the Wellington region. Out of 20 teams (x10 women and x10 men), three were from the Wairarapa!

As well as nearly 400 entries including lots of roses and some beautiful irises, there was a popular display of Bonsai put on by the recently formed Wairarapa Bonsai Club, and a table of exquisite creations made out of icing from the Cake Decorators’ Guild. … Continue Reading
