Wharekaka News

August 3, 2012 Uncategorized 1 Comment

Mrs. Charmaine Alpe of the Cross Stitch group shows Mrs. Mavis Thomas some of her work. A big thank you to the Cross Stitch group for coming to visit Wharekaka and bringing in their beautiful pieces of work to show Residents.

t’s been a mixture of Weather this month. Residents have been taking full advantage of the few great days we have had to get out in the sunshine and go on drives and outings. Many thanks to the volunteers that offer their time and cars to do this.

In the rainy cold days we have kept warm with Pilates, Thai Chi and exercises everyday.
Residents have enjoyed indoor bowls and planting bulbs in pots in the lounge these will brighten up the home when they begin flowering.

Rummy and Housie are still weekly favourites – and the chance to win a good prize.  A big Thank you to Connie and Carol for being Housie callers.

Residents also enjoy the Church service once a month offered by Glenys and her very interesting stories she tells. Thank you Glenys.

We are looking for some Story Tellers to come in once a month during the weekend. Do you have a story or two to tell to our Residents it could be fiction or non-fiction, a life story or a life experience, or maybe you play an instrument?

Volunteers are also welcome to come and take Residents on wheelchair walks to the library, supermarket or just a walk in the sunshine. Or do you have a special gift such as massaging resident hands or applying nail polish to make the ladies feel special – we would love to hear from you.

Please contact Wendy during working hours on 3069701.
