A Mighty Big “Thank-you”
to all who supported “Martinborough’s Mid-Winter Monster Book Fair”
Our Book Fair is going from strength to strength and it just keeps getting better and better.
Those who may have noticed a Big Green Truck, laden to the hilt with books on Thursday night before the Book Fair, may have wondered why it wasn’t loaded with sheep and going to the Works. Why? Well it was on its way to the Town Hall where members of our local Rugby Club quickly off-loaded the precious cargo and helped set up trestles for the 1,000’s of donated books
A Huge “Thank-You” guys, your strength and help was most appreciated both on Thursday with the set-up and Sunday for the Clean-up.
Members of the First Church also want to “Thank” Dean & his Team at P&K, Liz & her Crew at the Library, Martinborough Transport, the BNZ, Chris, Tim, Lysandra, Caroline & Stu…. and all those who helped make the event such a success
We can’t overlook our local schools with our accolades, “Thank-You” Martinborough, Pirinoa, Kahutara and Tuturumuri Schools, who all come on board and help publicise our event.
Those who braved the cold weather on Friday evening were warmed by the very entertaining presentations by our very own local children’s authors, Carolyn Collis and Phillip Percy. They each talked about the books they have published and the experiences they had leading up to these publications.(Following which, everyone was treated to a yummy supper before venturing upstairs to take advantage of the ‘Preferential Sales’!).
We are indeed very fortunate to have so many talented people in our midst who are willing to give of their time and come along in support of our Friday evening preludes to these weekends. . Another Big “Thank-You” to Carolyn and Phillip.
With escalating costs in Insurance, Rates, Power etc, it becomes increasingly harder to maintain precious icons within our community and fundraising is ongoing. The $5000.00 plus which was raised over this weekend will go towards the upkeep of Martinborough’s First Church.
A Mighty big “Thank-you” to all who supported this annual event.
