A great show
The flat area at the end of Alana Estate was a perfect picnic venue for Dame Malvina Major’s Diamond Jubilee Concert.

Some of the highlights for me were Dame Malvina and Geoff Sewell singing the duet made famous by Sir Howard Morrison ‘ How Great Thou Art’.

Then the brilliant fiddler with the Hamilton Blue Grass Band, and one of my favourites: ‘Jolene’.
Hogsnort Rupert’s Band with his toe tapping ‘Aunty Alice bought us this” – Lot’s of Memories!

Also the very moving act with Geoff Sewell singing with his two very confident daughters – perhaps only ten and twelve? One daughter having almost overcome autism with music. The audience of about 1.400 were completely rapt.

And the Finale with the fabulous Royal New Zealand Airforce and Navy Bands filling the stage.
Thanks to Alana for organising this wonderful concert in Martinborough. I loved every minute of it. – Yes it did get very cold later as the shadows deepened.
