Wharekaka Fun

September 8, 2014 September 2014 No Comments

Wahrekakak-fun We went back to school this month and had some fun experimenting with Science! We tried our hand at the Coloured Milk and Elephants Toothpaste experiments both with exciting and mildly explosive results!
We also got the chance to head back to school literally when Kuranui College kindly invited us to attend their school production of West Side Story. The show was fantastic and the residents that attended were all blown away by how talented the students were.
This year we have been lucky enough to be included as a part of the BNZ Closed for Good project. With the help of BNZ staff and other volunteers we are going to be building a native garden border on our Oxford St grounds. We are all very excited about the project so thank you BNZ!

Auxiliary News
The August activity of the Auxiliary was to invite the Martinborough smocking group to show their exquisite workmanship to the residents. Thanks to the Auxiliary members of the smocking group who organised this – Di Martin, Di Bunny and Heather Colton and to Robin Lockie and Trish Wilson who brought along gorgeous examples of their work.
The September activity is our annual visit to view daffodils and spring lambs in the Martinborough district. This is eagerly anticipated by the residents as one of the first signs of Spring and hopefully good weather!
We welcome 3 new members of the Auxiliary committee – Gail Wilson, Katherine Jacobs and Barb Smith. If anyone else would like to join us, please contact Helen Meehan on 306 9074 or Barbie Cox on 306 9934.
