Netball success

October 7, 2014 October 2014, Sports No Comments

netball-successWith the season having just finished for the year, the Martinborough Netball Team are the Premier 2 Division WINNERS of the Wairarapa Netball Competition 2014, winning their final 28 – 25 against Pioneer White.
While there were a few setbacks to the team in the early stages of the netball season, the weather not being helpful either in terms of trainings and having only lost one game throughout the whole netball competition, it has been a great season overall for the Martinborough Netball team and of course lifting the profile of netball within the community.

MNC extends a huge thank you and appreciate the support from local businesses Cotter & Stevens, Nick & Team (Medici Café), James Graham, Richard Riddiford (Palliser), Sue & Bruce (Kitcheners), Sue (Leaders Real Estate), the Team at BP, Kim Lace (Ace Panel & Paint), Toast Martinborough, Puke Manu Tavern and of course to the locals and families and friends of our team members.
Many thanks to our coach Tai (Micro Wine Bar) who’s experience, knowledge and patience had steered the team this season to finals victory. Tai is also part of the New Zealand Men’s & Mixed Netball Squad heading to Australia (mid October) taking part in a International Netball Test Series being held in Sydney, so lets hope one can replicate a winning performance like our netball team and wish Tai and the NZ squad all the best.
This season has certainly been a good start and finish to ensuring netball is ongoing as we work together to increase the netball profile within the community, the wider South Wairarapa region, not just for senior players alike but also to our future young aspiring Silver Fern netballers. Looking forward to also working with our young netballers next year and hopefully we may see more senior players on board as well.
On behalf of our President Sue Brown, Team Captain Kim Holsted and all the members of the Martinborough Netball Team again we say thank you to everyone for their support.
