Wharekaka fun

October 7, 2014 October 2014, Regular Features No Comments

Wharekaka-fun We at Wharekaka got our hands on some of the hottest tickets in town when we were invited to the dress rehearsal of ‘Broadway comes to Martinborough.’ The Martinborough school children brought the music of Broadway right into our little town and the residents absolutely loved it.

We were given the chance in September to be included as a part of the 2014 BNZ Closed for Good Project. Seven local BNZ staff donated their time to help us plant our new Oxford St border garden. The children from the DOT Kids Daycare Centre also came to help purchasing and planting some beautiful plants under our Wharekaka sign. Kuranui College students also donated their time helping with morning tea and photographing the event. A big thank you to all of those who helped on the day and also those who helped with the preparation, Graham Peek who donated his truck and digger and Andy Sutherland who donated the topsoil. The success of this project has resulted in a beautiful native garden that will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.
