South Wairarapa Rotary Club

South-Wairrpa-Rotary-Club-The start of November saw the running of our new project, the Martinborough Charity Fun Ride. What a great event it is, we had approximately 350 riders of all ages competing on one of two courses aiming to achieve some personal goals. Unfortunately the wind didn’t help in allowing any record times to be set, but overall an excellent day was had by all. Many thanks go out to not only the riders for making it such a great event but also to Geoff and Jan Lankow who having run this event for 20+ years did a great job in bringing us up to speed.

On the 19th we helped out in the three towns with the annual Foodbank collection, what a great turn-out of donations – thank-you to all those who went out of their way to hand over anything from one tin to a whole bag of produce.
These are just two examples of the many projects we get involved in, we would be happy to talk to people in the community who would like to be involved in any of these projects.

Late in October saw the club meeting at the Tin Hut, a good turn-out of club members enjoyed a great meal followed by a very informative presentation on several projects being carried out in Vanuatu by Nick Clements.

Coming up fast is Christmas and we take a break to enjoy the holiday season. However planning for the 2015 Martinborough Fairs will carry on, the Fair is our main fund-raiser for the year and will get the new year off to a busy start.
