Hi from Martinborough Plunket

June 18, 2015 June 2015 No Comments

We’ve had a lot on our ‘plate’ these last two months, firstly our ‘SuperGrans’ poster was put  up around town promoting free cooking demos at St Andrews Church.. the good folks there had let us use their kitchen and have the SuperGrans come show us how to cook up some simple meals for the family, last week we made delicious muffins and scones. This cooking demo was well received with a good group of parents coming along, thank you so much to the SuperGrans.

A big hands up for Martinborough School who had a mufti day for us too and raised $280 for Plunket. It’s very special seeing children who have been Plunket babies come back  and support us by joining in with fund raising.

If you were one of the families lucky enough to have joined in with ‘Portraits for Plunket’ local photographer Erina Wood offered several sittings at a special price and donated some of her ‘sitting fee’ to Plunket, this was very popular with limited spaces that were snapped up fast, we hope to run this again next year, so if you missed out, we’ll advertise this again next year.

We also ran a CPR course,  we had two groups come along on for two days at the ST Johns Ambulance depot. Kathryn was fantastic at taking us through steps of CPR and how to do this with babies and adults, You never know when these skills may be needed.

Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic had a good turnout of mums and bubs, 12 families came to join us on the sunny day, our wonderful local baker and book writer Alice  Arndell donated a gorgeous cake for the day, a big thank you Alice for donating your time and gorgeous cake.

Keep an eye out for our notices at our local library for our Monday morning play group we have at the Plunket rooms on Venice Street, if you need to get hold of us for any Plunket info you can go to our Facebook page at  ‘Plunket Wairarapa’, or email Linda or Lia at :thatsthewhey@gmail.com or phone 3066176, we’d love to hear from you.

With winter here make sure you all wrap up warm, we’ve had a very wet winter so far, so take your time when you are driving out and about. Linda Blake for Martinborough Plunket.
