Library News

Media interest in the library/librarians has been high this past week or so, but rest assured we still have more books than shoes on the shelves.  It’s the new budget year so the boxes of new books are flooding in.  It will take a little while to process them all but if you would like a sneak preview then just ask when you are next in.  We shall try to get them out to you as soon as we can but the library is buzzing with customers and there is never enough time to do everything.

Our lovely volunteers have become not only a pleasure to have around but really helpful in keeping the library tidy and sorted for us.  We have so many magazines donated to us now that I have had to bring in another stand to put them on.  Many of them are specialist magazines, such as Opera News, Mountaineering news, RV Motoring, Classic cars, Times Literary Review, Break-in amateur radio and National Business Review – these are only a few, many more await eager readers.

There are also many books coming off the shelves too and you may have noticed these for sale outside the front door.  Please come and get some of them, recycle them by bringing them back if you wish or pass them on to someone else.   Unfortunately we have take some off to put the new ones on as the building is not getting any bigger in the short term!  That’s all for now – I need to go and cover some new books.

The 2015 Financial Year has closed and with the star of the new budget it is timely to tell you about one of the more major purchases.  After a customer request for this book, it was tracked down to the UK and we managed to buy a copy.  There are no others in the country, so it is a unique addition to the wine book collection in our small library:
 Pomerol  by Neal Martin

Winner of the inaugural Andre Simon “John Avery” Award 2013
& the Louis-Roederer Chairman’s Award 2013.
