Christopher-Hutton The Greytown Music Group’s next concert, on Saturday 27 May at 4pm, will be a solo cello recital given by Christopher Hutton.
Born and brought up in Wellington, Christopher studied at Boston University and the Eastman School of Music in the United States. He is now an Associate Professor of Violincello at Furman University in South Carolina, and also performs widely in solo and chamber music recitals in the USA and Europe, with occasional trips back to NZ. He has recorded for Radio NZ, and collaborated with composers including New Zealanders Helen Bowater and Christopher Marshall. … Continue Reading

Back-to-back-Shakespeare-ChampionsThe Performing Arts Department at Kuranui College is experiencing a great deal of success of late, especially in the area of Shakespeare.  This year they performed a 15min scene from “Pericles: The Prince of Tyre” at the Regional Shakespeare competition, and took out the competition.

LIFE FLIGHT’S Westpac Rescue Helicopter has flown to the Wairarapa eight times this month (between 1 Apr and 25 Apr). Six of the responses were for urgent medical reasons, including the urgent transfer of a newborn baby in an incubator. The other two were accident responses – a car accident and a quad bike accident.  

STATISTICS gathered by Stats NZ showed that the Fire Brigade is the most trusted organisations in New Zealand. Followed by Maritime NZ and DOC. The criteria included social responsibility, reliability and believability.
