Friends of Martinborough Cemetary

September 13, 2017 September 2017 Comments Off on Friends of Martinborough Cemetary

I am looking to form a group to be Friends of the Martinborough Cemetery. This is the cemetery on Huangaura Road.
My idea is that initially it will be to tackle cleaning some of the headstones which are covered in moss and lichen, and then depending on ideas that the group come up with look at planting some gardens to increase the colour and brighten the whole area up.
Last but not least then fundraising to have a toilet and handbasin located within the grounds of the Cemetery.
If you are keen to be part of this group, then please contact me

Fire Brigade

The amalgamation of the NZ Fire Service with 39 rural fire authorities on the 1st of July brought together our country’s urban and rural fire services for the first time. The Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade (MVFB) is now part of a much larger national organisation with new and better ways of working together. By world standards, Fire and Emergency NZ is a large emergency service. MVFB are one of 690 fire brigades and fire forces with over 14,000 personnel spread out across NZ. 83% of those personnel are either rural or urban volunteers who provide emergency coverage to more than 95% of the New Zealand’s land mass. … Continue Reading

The group was formed in 1988 by NZSO Assistant Concertmaster Donald Armstrong, and is committed to performing works of all periods for differing combinations of instruments from the very small to the very large.
As the name suggests, the members of the Ensemble are great friends, and also colleagues, from principal chairs of the NZSO. They are joined for this concert by well known international pianist Jian Liu. … Continue Reading

The Men’s Shed’s most successful project is “Bikes for Kids” which has been underway for several months. Thanks to the donations of bikes of all sizes from the community, over 30 bikes have been reconditioned to good working order and placed in schools and the Wairarapa Youth Program located in Featherston. The kids from Pirinoa and Tuturumuri schools now have a selection of sizes to fit everyone. More donated bikes, especially for the small kids, would be appreciated. … Continue Reading
