Community Board report

April 11, 2017 April 2017 No Comments

It is safe to say the so called summer has now moved on with the cooler weather now almost upon us.There are few points the Community Board would love your feedback on:
A recent visit to our local pool highlighted some areas for us, we are looking at moving the shade from the playground to the pool to give some much needed shade for people using this facility, we have also recognised the need for seating by the toddler pool area.

It is disappointing that due to health and safety rules the inflatable slide can no longer be used in the pool due to the depth of the pool, we are working on a solution for this issue so that next swim season we can offer something along the lines of the slide for all to use.

In an ideal world a covered heated pool would be amazing for our community and something we plan to work towards in the future. Is there anything else you would like to see at our pool, we would love the community’s feedback?

Naming of New Roads. The Community Board seek input from the community on a list of accepted new roads in our town and surrounding areas. These names should have significant local content or meaning.

The reason for forming a pre – approved list of names, during a discussion at council on the adoption of a name road name a suggestion was made to have a list of pre- approved names which developers/land owners could pick from thus ensuring names are suitable for our area and history, also this was seen as a way of speeding up the process of road naming.

Our next round of grant funding is now open the process is easy head to the SWDC web page and take a look.

We remind everyone that it is ANZAC day 25th April, Martinborough has an early start with the dawn parade assembling in Jellicoe Street outside Pain & Kershaws at 5.45am and moving off to the cenotaph at 5.55am. The Community Board lays a wreath on behalf of our community and we encourage everyone to come along and be part of this very moving ceremony. Don’t forget your torch to enable reading of the service sheet. We look forward to a great turn out of residents and visitors. Lastly on behalf of the Community Board we wish you all a safe Easter.
