Have your walking shoes grown cobwebs this winter?

September 13, 2017 September 2017 No Comments

EFFORT seldom goes unrewarded.
EFFORT channelled into outdoor pursuits reaps multi rewards such as companionship, fresh air and sunshine, physical exercise, interests shared through relaxed conversation, discovery of the beauty of creation, the joy of being in the great outdoors, and – perhaps most importantly – a deep sense of wellbeing and achievement after a jolly good day in the bush. Even the humble peanut butter sandwich tastes curiously scrumptious in the outdoors! These are just some of the many advantages of heading out with a group of walkers.
If winter has dampened your motivation to get out there and cover some walking distance, how about coming on a walking experience with the South Wairarapa Tramping Club? We’re a friendly bunch whose shared interest is a love of the outdoors. Our common denominator at the track starting line is a backpack.
Simple as that! A welcome awaits you.

Activities on the SWTC trip lists include something for everyone and address all levels of fitness. Our 2017 winter trip schedule included Battle Hill, Wellington’s Eastern Walkway with an add-on visit to Peter Jackson’s WWI Exhibition, the Manawatu Gorge Track, Cannon Point walkway, Mikimiki/Kiriwhakapapa, Rimutaka Forest Park, a Masterton walk starting at Henley Lake, the Kaitoke Loop Walk, Mt Reeves (work party); and on the first Saturday of spring a round-the-bays cycle trip. When a weather forecast calls for cancellation of a scheduled day-trip, a local bike ride or walk is sometimes able to be substituted.
Next trip 16 Sep : Western Lake : trip leader Barry Kempton (304 9353)
SO… if your walking shoes have become a bit sad-looking during the winter months, now is the perfect time to bring them out and give them a dusting.
For upcoming trip details please phone Barry Kempton (304 9353), or for information relating to the South Wairarapa Tramping Club phone Carol Major (304 8210). Our club night is held at 7.30pm on the 2nd Tuesday monthly in the St John Hall, Main Street, Greytown. Do come and join us!
