Inner Wheel

August 7, 2017 August 2017 No Comments

This has been a very busy month for our club as we have had two changeovers (when a new president starts the new Inner Wheel year). The first was on 10 June when District Chair, Dale Julius, handed over to District Chair Judi Newborn, at the ANZAC Hall in Featherston. Our members catered, and decorated the venue. The second changeover took place in the Cobblestones Exhibition Hall in Greytown with a Roaring Twenties theme, and we were privileged to have the Featherston Gentlemen’s Choir perform songs from the same era.

Judy Shakespeare handed over her chains of office to Dr Anne Hayden. As can be seen from the photos, both events were very successful.

This month promises to be just as busy. We are holding a cash only silent auction at the Greytown Town Hall on 22 July to raise funds to send a Wairarapa girl to Outward Bound (10 – 1pm, with the results being available at 1.30pm).

We have been wonderfully supported by businesses from Featherston, Greytown, Martinborough, Carterton and Masterton, resulting in many stunning lots on offer with something for everyone. AND this includes a Weta Workshop collectible in the form of “Orgram Doomhammer”, signed by Sir Richard Taylor and valued at $271, so tell your kids!

The theme is “celebrating the great outdoors” and there will be a few stalls, a sausage sizzle run by the Boy Scouts, jazz by Alex Nyman and maybe a surprise or two. The auction involves bidders buying a number for $2.00 to enable them to bid on items of interest. Tea, coffee and biscuits will also to be available.
Most importantly, we have Marina Adams from Outward Bound to tell you about the organisation and showing a power point presentation throughout the auction. So do come along, enjoy the fun, competition and camaraderie. We look forward to seeing you there!
