Leave my name alone
BY JOHN ANSELL
Gidday, my name is Michael
I’ve two other names as well
I share them with my parents
But for how long who can tell?
My Mum’s called Nancy Inkersell
But when she was quite small
She was named after a passage-way
Her name was Nancy Hall.
I hope they leave my name alone
A change could really spoil it
I could be Michael Dining Room
Or even Michael Toilet.
My surname is my Daddy’s
And my middle name’s his too
And if he ever wants them back
I don’t know what I’d do.
I’d just be plain old Michael
Since my other names are his
I hope they leave my name alone
I like it like it is.
