Mens Shed

October 2016
As you may already know know, the auction was a huge success raising over $3800 before expenses of about $200. We had a perfect day, wedged in between rain on the Friday and Sunday and a good crowd of bidders who left only a few unwanted lots. These have been transferred to the Carterton Auction House so a bit more $$ should add to the total. Many thanks to all who contributed time and items for the auction to make it happen.
Courthouse Progress
Eastern and Central Community Trust have given us a grant to complete the refurbishment of the courthouse which will allow the team to finish the electrical work, install security lighting and locks, tackle the hole in the back hall, purchase a security system and other interior work. Painting of the outside which is funded by Council will begin soon.

Projects
Many Mens’ Sheds around the country create raised gardens at their shed for those members with green thumbs. We have the space and there is a resident at Wharakaka (the only male resident) who is growing seeds in his room in hopes of planting out somewhere. We can easily build the raised beds if there is interest from a few members in the project. Please let me know if we should go ahead as the growing season is upon us.
We now have a list of projects that have been requested by the community, some of which are underway at the Shed. We have been commissioned by Toast Martinborough to
create “Bus Stop” signs which we designed, cut out and now being painted.
10 small boxes used to display baby bibs at fairs are underway.
Pest traps and weta motels are awaiting someone to take them on. A large chest of drawers will be restored. There are other projects coming in every week so come on down of Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 to noon and check out what is happening.
Visitors Coming
John Bush and members from Henley Mens Shed are coming for a social visit on Wednesday 2 November for a cuppa about 10am. It’s an opportunity to get to know fellow Mens Shed guys and show them what goes on in Martinborough.
