WBS MARTINBOROUGH FC – UPDATE

May 9, 2017 May 2017 No Comments

Martinboroug-FC-update A lot has been happening with the new set up over the past few months…
At the end of March we had our official launch with Paul Ifill (Ex Wellington Phoenix and current Wairarapa United player) taking 18 of our local children for an hour’s training. We also unveiled our new look kit. A great turnout by children, parents and senior team players made it a fantastic event.

The Junior Development has been going from strength to strength on Saturday mornings with up to 30 children at a time attending these free training/coaching sessions run by local parents – the feedback so far has been amazing and has even led to 2 Masterton based children wanting to move and play for Martinborough this season!
The Development will be put on hold when the Junior season kicks off on 6th May – we have 5 teams playing across the various grades this year and look forward to seeing all the kids take to the field in the new kits – if you get a chance to support them please come along.
The Senior side started their season on 1st April (thankfully no April Fool for them that day) with a 3-2 home win over Featherston. It was a hard fought win, especially being the very first competitive game for everyone, and goals by Trent Jacobson (1) and Carl Whitby (2) sealed the victory.
