A shoebox Cristmas

February 11, 2019 February 2019 No Comments

Wairarapa Shoebox Christmas which provides a shoebox filled with brand new presents for a child living in the Wairarapa who may otherwise go without or have very little at Christmas. The shoeboxes are funded by members of the community and the boxes remain 100% in our community.

“This is the first year it has been run here in the Wairarapa so has been a learning curve!” said one of the organisers Sophie

The schools and organisations benefiting from the shoeboxes included

Martinborough School – where we are able to give the School close to 60 boxes to cover two full junior classes of children. Every child in these two classes will receive a box that is carefully chosen by someone living in the Wairarapa.

Other recipients were Douglas Park School, Lakeview and

St Patrick’s Masterton where in each case they were given to targeted families. Also South End Kindy with the entire roll is receiving boxes

The paeds ward at the hospital for the children in hospital over the Christmas period. The SCBU (special care baby unit) – for babies who are born prem (Mums of prem babies will also be receiving boxes). The Women’s Refuge and  Family Works Featherston
