Business Association update

November 17, 2017 November 2017 No Comments

It’s been another busy month for the Martinborough Business Association with the successful launch of a Sunday bus service to and from the Featherston train. Run by association member Green Jersey Cycles and underwritten by the business association, the purpose of this service is to support our local businesses by ensuring visitors who catch the Sunday train from Wellington have a bus service to Martinborough over the summer season. Running until Easter 2018, we hope that statistics collected of visitor demand for this service to Martinborough will give the association the ammunition to lobby for the subsidized Metlink service to run seven days a week from Featherston.

We’re also thrilled to see how association member Ventana Creative Collective has spearheaded the Martinborough Mural walk as part of the Kokomai Arts festival, with some stunningly creative pieces throughout the town. These permanent fixtures will be a further drawcard for visitors to the region and we congratulate Auriga and her team for the fruition of this labour of love.
Feedback from our members and the wider community indicates that security for businesses and individuals around the square is a major concern. The association is currently investigating options for security cameras in the centre of town, and looking at pricing and funding options for this initiative. We are also continuing to liaise with council and community board particularly on our key issues of town boundary and cycle access in the town, as well as making a submission in response to the proposed LTP.
Pete Couchman, business association chair, will be running a free Dale Carnegie customer service workshop for interested members at 5.30pm on Wednesday 29th November. Numbers for this course will be limited so to register members can email info@martinboroughnz.com for details.
And as Christmas is fast approaching, the members’ end-of-year networking drinks will be held at Margrain on 13th December – check out our latest newsletter for details.
For any queries about the business association or to find out about joining, please email the secretary on info@martinboroughnz.com
