Martinborough Business Association

Its that time of the year again when the daylight hours start to shorten, the weather a little cooler and the colours a little more dynamic. This season this is happening against a backdrop of NZ and Martinbotough opening up to international visitors and the dropping off of some of the public health rules and orders.

One of the big  problems we experienced  during the pandemic was getting labour for the many hospo jobs that our members had. … Continue Reading

South Wairarapa Tramping Club:  NZ’s Largest Rata – the Karapoti Rata

April 7, 2022 April 2022 Comments Off on South Wairarapa Tramping Club:  NZ’s Largest Rata – the Karapoti Rata

The Karapoti Rata is estimated as being 1000 to 1500 years old, was discovered in 2008, and is hidden deep in the Akatarawa Forest.

5 trampers from Greytown joined up with 6 from Eastbourne, led by Peter who had located the tree, and had devised routes to it, partly along existing tracks, logging routes, and stream beds, with new sections of route as necessary. Our route took us up a steep slope and through dense bush. There were many tracks, some quite indistinct, but Peter knew every turning. … Continue Reading

That is however little consolation for someone who has lost a chunk of land to the river or had water flowing through their house. … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1. At least that was the range of excuses for some …
