Everyone enjoyed the mid year party.

Everyone enjoyed the mid year party.

Hello from Wharekaka,

Now with the shortest day behind us. We look forward to the weather improving.

Thanks to all those in the community who came by to see everything was as it should be during the recent flooding.

Grants and fundraising have assisted Wharekaka to purchase our additional van which has a wheelchair hoist and should be more accessible for the residents to use. You will however still see the old van around town as this will continue to be used with delivering of meals on wheels to Featherston.

Thanks to all the volunteer drivers who help make this possible. … Continue Reading

The Martinborough Micros and Magic hockey teams.

The Martinborough Micros and Magic hockey teams.

We hope you all enjoyed a well-earned break over the school holidays as we head into the second half of the hockey season with all the flooding and snow hopefully behind us.

The new Tuesday 6-aside format seems to be working well, with a huge number of teams from all over the Wairarapa participating. There are so many teams that it took over a month for the grading games to be completed! We have the Rockets playing in the Blue grade the Micros and the Magic both playing in the Yellow grade. These teams train on Monday lunchtimes at school under the careful guidance of Liz Larkin, Kiely Marshall and Kerry Campbell. The kids’ enthusiasm to get their stick on the ball is just fantastic – like bees to a honey pot! … Continue Reading

COMMUNITY BOARD UPDATE

August 7, 2017 August 2017, Regular Features Comments Off on COMMUNITY BOARD UPDATE

Our Community Board, which is YOUR Community Board, has been busy as usual. Here is an update on a couple of our recent projects.

To do our job well, we continue to emphasise and encourage COMMUNICATION. Whether you, the readers are ratepayers, residents or visitors, we love to hear from you! Over the past few months, we have been developing some plans to make this easier.

So as you browse through other pages of this excellent publication, look out for our ‘ENGAGEMENT SURVEY’… and send us your answers. You can use the copy in the STAR or complete a simple online version. In this survey we are looking for feedback on ‘town beautification’; a rather old-fashioned term meaning ways to make Martinborough a lovely place. The Board has some ideas and some funds, but of course wants to do things that you would like. … Continue Reading
