Wharekaka has 21 elderly and frail residents, many of whom need hospital level care. We have decided that 2020 is the year we strengthen and formalise our volunteer engagement, to ensure that our residents have the best opportunities to engage with our caring and supportive Martinborough and District community. 

We want to reach out to those of you who have the time and motivation to support our residents. You will be offered training and guidance and regular sessions to ensure that are able to fulfill your role and not only give to the Wharekaka community, but enrich your own life. … Continue Reading

Wharekaka has started the new decade with enthusiasm. We are in good heart and were delighted to be complimented recently for our faultless nursing care, under the leadership of Evelen Alexander.   We celebrate and thank all our staff who together, as a team, provide wonderful care, activities and delicious meals for our residents with love and professionalism.   We are also looking forward to welcoming volunteers into new roles in our services (see separate article).  

Change is good the pundits always say, so taking that to heart, the Wharekaka Auxiliary decided to change our annual January residents’ picnic day to an outdoor Fish and Chip lunch. That went down very well, if you’ll pardon the pun, as you can see in the photo. … Continue Reading
