Another glorious Martinborough summer is here! I’m expecting red hot days, jumping in cool blue water and drinking a delicious Martinborough chilled white wine while enjoying a warm orange sunset around the amber glow of a fire pit.

Geoff Lankow, the man behind the Martinborough Fun Ride which raised over $150,000 for the community, passed away in early January, aged 85.

The Fun Ride peaked at 900 riders under Geoff’s 23-year reign, timed for riders training for the Lake Taupo Challenge. Funds supported the Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade and South Wairarapa Order of St John, and on retiring from the event Geoff and Jan received a Rotary Community Service Award for their initiative. … Continue Reading

The Guest Speaker at our January meeting was Anton Persico, Sales Manager for The Orchards Lifestyle Retirement Village, who spoke on behalf of developer/operators Craig Percy and the Tumu Group. The village will be sited on Murphy’s Orchard property in Greytown and will preserve some of the 700 mature trees, mostly fruit trees consisting of  plums, apples, nectarine, peaches and apricots. Expressions of interest have already been received from 200 potential residents, couples and singles.

The homes will be built embracing the boutique vision of the developer. For example, the stud height in the villas is typically a generous 2.7 m (9 ft).
