$5,000 to the Cancer Society from Martinborough Pro-am golf.

February 9, 2021 February 2021 Comments Off on $5,000 to the Cancer Society from Martinborough Pro-am golf.

Martinborough’s hugely successful Pro-am tournament netted a $5,000 donation to the Cancer society. The tournament, New Zealand’s biggest one day Pro-am event, attracted 164 golfers, of whom 42 were professionals. The professionals welcomed a tournament in a season where, due to Covid,  cancellations have resulted and there having been very little opportunity to play competitively.

The prize money totalling $20,000 were fully funded by Spark whose sponsorship was in recognition of the tournament being ‘all about community’- the kind of completely community organised event which Spark is keen to sponsor .

The club had great organising support from the Wairarapa Golf Hub plus a lot of help from local volunteers. Professional golfers were billeted locally and enjoyed Martinborough hospitality. Happy New Year to you all, it is hard to believe that by the time you read this we will be into February and everyone’s life will be in full swing for 2021.

Although I am another year older life does not seem to be slowing down – and the work at Council keeps on coming.  We are well into the new Long Term Plan and Spatial Plan with workshops covering all the ground work before the draft consultation document comes to Council for approval and goes out for public consultation.

We as Councillors think we are busy but the officers and staff working solidly behind the scenes have been busier still. The schedule of meetings I am involved with are Council on the 10th Feb; Wellington Region Waste Forum 19th, Finance, Audit and Risk on the 24th and Martinborough Community Board on the 25th. … Continue Reading
