This month will see the return of the popular wine tasting event for locals, Conversations with Martinborough’s Winemakers.  After an enthusiastic response from people who attended last year, Wines from Martinborough is holding the series again, with different wines and different winemakers.

Martinborough knitters, knitting for children in orphanages in Moldova, Ukraine and Romania meet twice monthly – the first Tuesday of the month in the small hall at St. Andrews Church, Dublin Street and the third Tuesday of the month at Wharekaka.   These lovely blankets and knitted jerseys etc. will be on display at St. Andrews Church Hall on Saturday 27th. July   1: 30  to 3: 30 p.m.  Everyone welcome!
  
We are most grateful to Property Brokers for their  very generous donation of money to buy wool for the knitters in both Martinborough and  Featherston. We would be very pleased to hear from any knitters or crotchetier who would like to join us.

Meet-your-fire-fightersLisa Marie Ireland is from Martinborough and joined the Brigade 4½ years ago for a couple reasons.  Lisa has always been interested in sport and the active nature of the fire service was a good fit.  She also was keen to begin giving back to her home town.

A real sports enthusiast, Lisa plays on the Eketahuna women’s rugby team in the Manawatu Competitions.  But golf is her favourite, boasting an enviable handicap of 4.2.  She has been the Martinborough Women’s champion for the last four years and was the Champion of Champions for the Wellington/Wairarapa region.   Outside her work at Cotter and Stevens and sport, you might find her at the family bach, called Rabs Island down at Tora. … Continue Reading
