The Year 12 and 13 Drama students are planning a two week trip to the UK in late September this year (during the school holidays) to experience Shakespearean Theatre (as well as other genres) in the location they come from. 

Some of the areas the students plan to visit are:
The sights of London including the Globe Theatre (where Shakespearean Theatre is performed), the Tower of London, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the National Theatre, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St Pauls Cathedral, the Olympic Parks and Baker Street (Sherlock Holmes).
The famous stones of Stonehenge.
The town of Stratford Upon Avon (William Shakespeare’s birthplace) and the home of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
The University of Glasgow in Scotland, spending the day in the Drama Department with ex-Kuranui Drama student Julia Dalgren.
A French Perfumery, the Eiffel Tower and the Moulin Rouge in Paris, France. … Continue Reading

When John Martin set out the plan in 1879 there was to be a railway to Martinborough with the terminus in the Centre of town.

An amusing quote from a paper held at the Wairarapa Archive ‘ The hills around Martinborough, Nga waka a Kupe, look like large canoes. For some time local schools have been taking part in the Regional Council’s replanting of our water side domains. Now the Council is inviting everybody to take part in this very worthwhile scheme. All that is required is a bit of your time, sturdy footwear , clothes appropriate to the weather and a spade.

Planting is planned for four areas, you are invited to take part in one, or more, that are convenient. The Council will be providing the flaxes and shrubs appropriate to each area. They will also provide a nice hot cuppa along with a barbecue at each site except the smaller planting at the Lake Domain where it will be a cuppa and snack. … Continue Reading
