ROADWORKS make ROADS WORK

Our roads and footpaths: we can’t live without them these days. And because they are in constant use, they need continuing ongoing repairs. This is complicated by what lurks beneath: our essential services involving water supply, phone lines, gas pipes, sewer pipes, sundry cables, and more. It’s a relief that these work well, but if anything goes wrong, the problem has to be located and fixed.  … Continue Reading

FIRE BRIGADE REPORT

May 9, 2022 May 2022 Comments Off on FIRE BRIGADE REPORT

The season has changed and we are now having lovely autumn nights with those crisper evenings, the firewood is in and no doubt the first fire has been lit.

Have you had your chimney swept ?? A major contributor to house fires are chimneys and many insurance companies require you to have an annual sweep to maintain cover.

The other really important chore you should have completed is checking your smoke alarm works and changing the battery if it is an older style one. If you are elderly we can help you do this, just contact Chief Jake Hawkins – 0272-559-440 if you need us to do this for you. … Continue Reading

From the Mayor

May 9, 2022 May 2022 Comments Off on From the Mayor

For this month, The Star have asked for an overview of ‘what the hell they all do in there’  – a good question if you don’t occasionally pop into our meetings.

The Wine and Food society of Martinborough has been operating here since the late 1980’s. We meet monthly and appreciate good food and wine. We have a cellar of wines that members buy into and there is a small fee for each meeting. At our April meeting we were lucky enough to have Christine Burki of B.wines to present six wines to us. Raphael and Christine are a Swiss couple who produce classically made cool climate wines combining the new world with the old. … Continue Reading

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1.
