Winter can be a quiet time for many businesses but the Martinborough Business Association Committee has been full steam ahead!

Our Businesses

We’ve been looking to grow this ahead of our new brand and website launch (planned for spring this year) so we can really showcase the businesses that Martinborough has to offer. Currently we have 82 members, but still a few gaps to fill so will be heading your way for a chat very soon. Did you know that there are 300 businesses in Martinborough!!

The offering will include new business marketing options, business support – training, networking, relationships with key providers and services and advocacy so join up and participate to get these benefits.

Our business area

It’s great to have almost all the CCTV cameras up now, not long till the project is complete. Allan (MBA Chair) recently met with Scott Miller Police Area Commander for the Wairarapa. Scott commended the MBA initiative to protect our business /community with the CCTV camera function. He confirmed police will monitor the system on an incident /event basis … Continue Reading

French economist Thomas Picketty’s book ’Capital the Twenty-First Century’ toped the best seller lists all around the world, which was most unusual for a six hundred plus page book on economics. Fifteen people with economics expertise agreed to take part and resulting book is ‘The Picketty Phenomenon.’ Their backgrounds are very diverse as are their particular interests and outlooks – to illustrate the width of knowledge and interest best list some them:

10-DAY KOKOMAI CREATIVE FESTIVAL BACK IN OCTOBER

September 23, 2019 September 2019 Comments Off on 10-DAY KOKOMAI CREATIVE FESTIVAL BACK IN OCTOBER

Wairarapa’s premier creativity, arts and cultural festival, Kokomai, returns in October with an exciting line-up.

The 10-day long biennial festival will run from 10-19 October and include events located across the Wairarapa, from rural halls, churches and larger venues such as the Carterton Events Centre.

Since 2013, Kokomai Creative Festival has been bringing world class, inspiring creative arts and entertainment to local communities in the Wairarapa.

The 2019 festival will differ slightly from previous years with fewer events but still maintain an impressively diverse programme, says Jo Beetham, Wairarapa Arts Festival Trust chair.

“This year’s festival is more user-friendly for festival goers. We’ve taken on board feedback from previous years about clashing performances on key nights during the festival,” Jo says.

“Kokomai is a bit more boutique this time around, and we are super excited about the line-up which is world-class with international, national and local artists and performers, providing exceptional live experiences. … Continue Reading
