TUHIRANGI JAB RUGBY

October 3, 2018 October 2018, Sports Comments Off on TUHIRANGI JAB RUGBY

The 2018 Tuhirangi JAB rugby season has come to an end but we have had a great year.  We had approx. 45 children registered and they played across 6 different teams ranging from Under 6 Rippa through to the Under 13’s.

This year we had our own Tuhirangi Under 6 Rippa team, but the rest of our players had to combine with other clubs to make up the numbers.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Gladstone Rugby Club, Greytown Rugby Club and Martinborough Rugby Club for letting us combine with them to ensure all our JAB players could play in the appropriate grades. … Continue Reading

Martinborough Golf Report

October 3, 2018 October 2018, Sports Comments Off on Martinborough Golf Report

Spring sprang a leak early in September with many days being called off, and the course closing for a short time (for being underwater).  However the cold snap passed, the ground dried out and our intrepid golfers wiped down their trundlers, dried out their gloves and drove home some good results.

Grumpies winners this month have included Peter Price and Ray Matthews, hopefully Terry might give us a glimpse of their infamous ladies tee league soon.

The 9-holers have missed a couple of days due to inclement weather but made up for it on following weeks, winners have been; Gaylene Delby-Neal and Jan Fergusson. The Thurlowe 4BBB was won by Sherryl Howie & Billie Holmes.

The ladies have also had to play catch up this month; winners have been Marilyn MacKenzie and Carol Parkinson. The ladies finally beat the drought and beat Royal Wellington in the 50th playing of the Ladies Stout Tournament, Sandra Petersen had the top score – good on you Mrs Gumboot! … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1.
