Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club News

September 21, 2016 September 2016, Sports Comments Off on Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club News

Martinborough-Ladies-HockeyThe Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club has had another great season. After completing a round of grading games early in the season, the team was unfortunate to just miss out on being promoted to the Women’s 2 grade, losing a promotion/relegation game in extra time against St Matthews 2nd X1. The team did well however to make it to the Women’s 3 grade final for the second year in a row.

Unfortunately Martinborough were unable to defend the trophy that we won last year. Playing Wairarapa College 2nd XI in the final was a good challenge, with the final score 2-1 to the college girls. Martinborough’s only goal in the final was pretty spectacular, scored by Heather Butler, who had the added pressure of playing against both of her daughters! … Continue Reading

This year the guys played four courses they hadn’t played before in the Coolum area, north of Brisbane, all with ‘water’ in their title! The trip went without a hitch, although a late bus to the airport almost delayed the homeward bound travellers. … Continue Reading

The netball season is shaping up to be an exciting one. All three of the Southern teams have improved dramatically throughout the season and it is impressive to watch. This is down to the hard work from the girls, the coaches/ managers and families that support every training and Saturday game. If anyone is interested in umpiring or coaching a younger team, please let Sarah Gadsby know through Martinborough School, 306 9602. … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1. At least that was the range of excuses for some …
