Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club News

Wow what a season!
Martinborough Ladies Hockey entered just one team in the Wairarapa Women’s Hockey Competition this year, in the Women’s 3 Grade. The team played very extremely well all season, winning all but three of our games, and one of these was a draw. We finished on top of the table after the round-robins and beat Featherston Foxies 3-1 in the final. Well done girls!

As a recent fundraiser, members of the team were waitresses at a 50th birthday party at the Town Hall. We are always looking for fundraising opportunities such as these. … Continue Reading

Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club

Summer is almost here and with it comes a big season for the Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club. Not only do we have the usual Business House, junior programme, senior interclub, midweek ladies and Over The Hill tournament planned, but we also have a major upgrade to the artificial courts on the cards. In collaboration with the Martinborough junior hockey and senior netball clubs, a project is underway to replace the two worn artificial courts, purchase moveable nets and install court lighting. This exciting multi-sport development is dependent on getting the required funding, but is hoped to be completed over the next few months. In the meantime here is what’s coming up and how to get involved:
Junior Tennis – Sign up for junior tennis is 3:30pm Monday 12th Oct down at the tennis club. Coaching will be Monday nights with interclub on Fridays. … Continue Reading

The Pumas

The Martinborough Puma’s 8th Grade football team had a great start to the season notching up a few wins and draws. As the season progressed a combination of cold weather, sickness and fatigue resulted in a drop in the goal count. Practices were often chaotic but fun was always had by all. The Puma’s and their parents are now looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday mornings!

Golf News

The drizzle did little to dampen the numbers who came out to support the finalists on Saturday for the Club Championships. The nine hole Womens B Division was won by Katrina Burgess who is just new to the Club against season finalist Nita Edwards. The Nine hole Championship was won again this year by Honor Clark who is touted to be moving back to 18 hole membership in 2016. … Continue Reading
