19th January opened with a sparkling day for the Pro AM.  Early mist dissipated and the threatened rain and easterlies failed to eventuate.  Six teams teed off at the crack of dawn with the other 35 teams beginning at 11.00 am.

With 41 teams having entered, the field was spilt to accommodate everyone with the least inconvenience. The course was immaculate. Competition was sizzling. 

On the 16th hole Provincial Insurance offered a $10,000 prize for amateurs for a hole in one, and a $20,000 prize for Pros. There were some tense moments with balls inching to the hole but failing to make the drop. … Continue Reading

It has been an extremely busy time at the Club over the last month with a number of events happening.

Grumpies have been well attended with recent winners being Bob Schofield, Tony Taylor (twice), Malcolm Wood, Mariana McDermott and Seamus O’Sullivan.  Twos have been had by Andy Morison, Seamus O’Sullivan, Wayne Phelps (3), Tony Taylor, Ed Brown, Malcolm Wood (4), Paul Harris (4), Martin Napier (2), 

Thursday Club winners have been Arthur Warren, Vern Anton, Shane Hislop and Ju Allen.  Twos have gone to Troy Shaw, John Warner (2), Rick Thompson, Arthur Warren, Jason Shaw, Rob Lopez, Malcolm Bridge, Wayne Phelps and Rob Smith.

At the end of October we hosted Eketahuna Golf Club to compete for the Baarbraa Trophy which we have failed to win for the last couple of years.  It was a very close call with Eketahuna averaging 31.55 points and Martinborough 31.61 so the sheep has a new home for the year!

At the beginning of November we held our Club Championship Finals.  The winners were:  Mens Senior Troy Shaw, runner up Tony Russo, Mens Intermediate Seamus O’Sullivan, runner up George Kirk, Mens Junior Dayle Scrimshaw, runner up Trevor Petersen, Mens Vets Brian Russo, runner up Andy Morison.  Womens Silver Sandra Petersen, runner up Debbie Donaldson, Womens Bronze A Julie Weber, runner up Marie Scrimshaw, Womens Bronze B Karen Stephens, runner up Alison Tipler. … Continue Reading

2022 has been a busy year for Kuranui College sport and though term one was slowed slightly with Covid competitions and achievements ramped up for the remainder of the year.

We are grateful to our coaches, managers, umpires, van drivers, sponsors and funders for the support they provide our rangatahi in achieving the best they can be in sport and recreation.

During the year students participated in basketball, netball, tennis, cricket, rugby, hockey, football, volleyball, touch rugby, smallbore, gliding, aviation, futsal, claybird shooting, badminton, 3×3 Basketball, e-sport, golf, Muay Thai, wrestling, swimming, athletics, mountain biking, archery, chess, cross country, tenpin bowling, and squash.

After all the rain over the last few weeks the course is looking stunning and has dried out incredibly quickly.

We are fast approaching our busiest time of year with green fees increasing every weekend making booking a tee time essential.
