FIRE BRIGADE REPORT

March 10, 2021 March 2021 No Comments

Well the topic of conversation is definitely the weather and especially the heat, this has moved the Fire Danger in our area to VERY HIGH or EXTREME, and as a result there is a TOTAL FIRE BAN IN PLACE. If you wish to check if any type of fire is permitted including things like Pizza Ovens and Hangi you can quickly check whether they are allowed at  www.checkitsalright.nz.

The Brigade has been quite steady as you will have notice and we have attended the large fire at Cape Palliser and other fires including where very quick action by firefighters prevented substantial property loss. Be very careful with all activities that may cause a spark or heat.

Our training progresses along and a number of courses are completed or pending for our team, Congratulations to QFF Simon Daly on completing the Qualified Fire Fighter Course this month. If you ever thought you wanted to have a look, we train weekly on Tuesday night at 7pm so come on down.

Our Chief, Jake Hawkins has offered to answer any questions you have if you think you see smoke or fire and are unsure whether you should act, or if you may have concerns about whether we are responding to a 111 call for help – his phone number is 0272-559-440.

Remember the TOTAL FIRE BAN applies to everyone, if you need assistance, see smoke or fire – Call 111
