FIRE BRIGADE REPORT

February 17, 2020 February 2020 No Comments

This month already the Brigade has responded to a call every second day on average. The PROHIBITED Fire season is in place affecting both Rural and Urban properties (visit : www.checkitsalright.nz before lighting any outdoor fire) most fire are NOT Allowed.

THE FIRE RISK IS : VERY HIGH

This month we profile our newest Firefighter, just back from completing his recruits course, Firefighter HAMISH REES.

Hamish  is married to Katie and they have 3 children, he is self employed by HJR CIVIL in Civil Construction, and has lived in our lovely community for almost 3 years.

Hamish is continuing the family legacy of community service set by both his Father and Grandfather, both of whom were Canterbury based Volunteer Firefighters. Hamish was attracted to the Martinborough Brigade by the challenges and camaraderie offered , and the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people.

Hamish states ” he has been well supported in obtaining all the new skills required to complete his Volunteer Recruit Course at the National Training Centre, and is relishing in the new challenges in this exciting new environment.”

The Brigade has responded to a number of motor vehicle accidents and we remind you to :

  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Look out for Motorcycles – it’s that summer riding season and the Wairarapa Roads are a favourite
  • Drive to conditions

If you see smoke or require our help DIAL 111
