The past month seems to have passed by in a flash!!!  Grumpies on a Tuesday have been getting good numbers out playing and the winners over the last month have been Lachie McLeod (but we won’t mention what happened the following week), Brian Russo, Guy Walmsley and Malcolm Bridge.  Two’s have gone to Malcolm Bridge, Brent Mortensen and Chris Hanson.

The Ladies on a Wednesday have not been quite so lucky with the weather but recent winners have been Honor Clark, Jan Ferguson, Jenny Wilkie and Ju Allen.  Two’s have gone to Bindy McLeod, Ann Hume, Sylvia Beavis and Jenny Wilkie who had 2 in one round.

The 9 holers held their Club Championships this month and in the  finals a fiercely fought battle between Jill Murphy and Sue Dalton for the A Club Champ saw Jill win on the 20th Hole after a putt by Sue sat right on the edge, even blowing it wouldn’t drop it in for Sue.  These two had seesawed around the course, and at times given each other chances!!   Golf right through to the 20th  hole!!  It was celebrated with bubbles at the 20th!!  Gaylene Selby-Neal won the B Club Champs with Ali Russell as runner up.  Katrina Burgess won the A Plate final with Jaquee Reid as runner up.  Jenny Tucker won the B Plate final with Julie Riddell as runner up.  Congratulations to all

Thursday Club has been getting good numbers with Richard Mills, Sandy Bidwill, Andy Morison and Trevor Petersen all winners.  There have been a number of people getting two’s, namely Kris Chamberlain, Nick Morison, Malcolm Bridge, Craig Oldfield, Bill Jago, Tony Taylor, Dayle Harwood, Chris Ranish, Martin Napier, Jason Shaw, Bill Jones, James Elworthy, Sheldon McNamara, Matt Thomas, Dean Schaef, Richard Harvey and Ailsa Malneek.

Weekend competition winners have been Colin Whibley-Smith (twice),  Alistair Petrie, Shane Hartnell and Emily Loughnan.  Two’s have gone to Brian Russo (2), Chris Ranish, Craig Andrews, Doug Ferguson, Kris Chamberlain, Emily Loughnan, Glenn Harper, Philippa Kirk (2), George Kirk, Shane Hartnell, Dayle Scrimshaw and Stu Taplin.

A couple of weeks ago we also hosted the AB Martin Mixed Foursomes (or as it is more commonly known “Divorcesomes”).  The winning couple were Doug and Honor Clark coming in with a very respectable nett score of 71 with newcomers to mixed foursomes, Doug and Jan Ferguson second with nett 73.  It was great to see 30 couples playing and especially nice to welcome Cate Crombie and Pip Rutherford, grand-daughters of Mr & Mrs A B Martin who presented the trophy in 1967.   Cate and Pip very kindly presented the prizes to the winning players.

Next month is a busy one for the Club with the Mens 54/36 Hole Open on the 3rd/4th, The Baarbraa Trophy against Eketahuna on the 11th, the Eastwood Motor Group Lamb & Chardonnay Ambrose (which was postponed from this month) on the 18th  and the St John’s Ambrose on the 23rd.

That’s all for now folks!!
