Hospice Wairarapa opens new store

July 6, 2020 July 2020 No Comments

Hospice Wairarapa opened its Greytown Store on 3 July and is excited to have achieved a way to benefit the broader community whilst raising much needed funds, which are retained within the region to ensure services continue to be provided to patients, their families and whānau 100% free of charge.

Fundraising is crucial to our service provision, but the current Covid-affected economic climate means grant funding and planned fundraising events have been severely impacted.

Our fabulous new retail outlet provides a vital new revenue stream, and has created a real buzz in Greytown.

Hospice provides a wide range of services throughout the Wairarapa including massage, counselling, biographies and carers’ support programmes. Plans are also underway to provide inpatient beds in purpose-built settings.

The lead up to opening our Greytown Store brought with it the creation of valuable new relationships. From people enthusiastically putting their names forward to volunteer, to those generously donating goods for sale, we were overwhelmed with the positive response from the community.

We were also able to strengthen existing relationships with local businesses that donated time, materials and expertise to provide bespoke shop fittings.

Kuranui College student leaders Maaike, Eddie and Bella lent their youth and creative flair to the bare walls, creating bright and fun murals which help make the store a reflection of what we believe Hospice Wairarapa is all about: Having moments that let your personality shine, giving to others and creating a space to enjoy.

There are now four ways to shop at and support Hospice Wairarapa – our Greytown Store, our Masterton Shop, our Saturday Garage Sale, and online via Trade Me.

The Greytown Store is open from 10am-4pm Friday to Monday (Winter Hours)
