Well we got through the Covid-19 lockdown, or have we !!

Surreal times for which there is no playbook. It was said that going into lock down was the easy bit,  but coming out is hard and will possibly be increasingly challenging for many people and businesses.

The MBA exists  to support its members and connect them with the help and advice that they might need.

We have established a strong partnership with WellingtonNZ and Destination Wairarapa ensuring we are close to the tourism and economic opportunities being promoted through government agencies such as MBIE and NZ Tourism.

This month we released the 2020 Martinborough Wine Village map. A new look and feel so we hope our visitors find them useful for their fun and supplies during their stay.

We also went live with our new website this month. A new look and feel too and will enable us to better target our members’ products and service messages to customers through “Stay and Play” and “Live and Work channels” on the website.

Local businesses are bouncing back into business with encouraging visitor numbers and transactions since Queen’s Birthday weekend. Exactly the burst we needed and into the winter season as well. Let’s hope that Wellingtonians still need that release from the Lockdown.

The MBA has its annual general meeting scheduled for the end of the month. Members will be advised of time,  date and location. We are hoping for a good turnout in the circumstances. A great opportunity to support one another in these unusual times. We will also have a couple of good speakers to share some Wairarapa wide initiatives with us. We’ll keep the business side of the meeting  short so we get plenty of time to listen  and mix and mingle.

Remember love local ! Allan Hogg  Chair
