Where did Summer go?  Nights have cooled off a lot and our warm days are quite a bit shorter.

It is now time to check your firewood.  If interested you can contact Joe Howells at the Green Jersey Yard or Phone 027 5972667.

Joe and fellow helpers did a fundraising working bee in helping with some tree clearing and flood remediation work after the big flood in February on the Ruamahanga farm.  There was a good turn out of Lions, some members making their tractors available to make the job a lot easier and faster.  Well done team!!

On Saturday 9th April with some Lions helpers we made 51 packs of homemade shortbreads with some Easter eggs and chocolates which we delivered to the elderly seniors and those elderly living alone.  This was a very well received project.  Thank you to those who helped on the day.

Our April Lion’s meeting on 13th April, 21 members and 4 guests attended.

Congratulations to David Lawrence who was awarded his 25 years service to Lions by Gillian Reid, Lions Zone Chairperson.

Our guest speakers on the night where Pam Francombe, Karla Paotonu, who gave a talk on how the Outward Bound operates in helping Students to better themselves. Jorja Holden, a Student  from Kuranui College, spoke about her experiences and highlights of what she had learnt from the course.   It was very interesting to hear what she had achieved for herself from the course.

New members are always welcome to join our Lions Club.  Whilst we are a service club with the aim of serving our community, fellowship is a very important aspect of the Club.  We meet at the Lions Hall Oxford Street at 6pm on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.  Anyone wanting to know more please contact Terry Blacktop on 06 3068568 or Margaret Bush on 06 304716.
