MARTINBOROUGH RUGBY CLUB

October 7, 2014 October 2014, Sports No Comments

Rugby-club The club season has come to an end for another year, our Senior Reserve team won their grade and hold the Ron Hughes Cup, as well as the Ryan Cup for the second consecutive year. The Senior As won the Premier Plate final and are holders of the Hodder Steffert Cup.

We have fare welled Adam Johnson who joined us for the season from England, playing in our Senior A team. It was great having him here and we also appreciate the time he put in to helping coach our Under 11 team.
Our JAB teams had a great year, two teams made it to the final of their grades but most importantly they finished the season with smiles on their faces, I am sure the parents/grandparents will enjoy a bit of a break as they do a great job of taxi drivers and coaches on a Saturday morning.

Congratulations to all our players selected to play for Wairarapa Bush:
HEARTLAND SQUAD – Nathan Hunt, Adam Johnson
Bs – Tipene Haira, Max Hornblow, Jacob Warren, Cody Whittaker
UNDER 19 – Kody Thompson
UNDER 11 – Shane Colton, Joe Diederich, Jack Lovell, Sam Mathewson, Sam Taylor

Well done also to our Under 10s selected to play in the Southern Development team – Ethan Boyd, Angus Durry, Tyler Edney, Connor Hislop, Devon Humphreys, Tiwa Phillips.
Rugby may be over for most but there is still plenty going on at the Martinborough Rugby Clubrooms. A big thank you to all the tradesmen that have worked hard to give the hall a make-over, all going above and beyond what was expected of them.
? B & L Contracting, Country Mile, Boston Floor Sanders, Securatel, Ace Panel & Paint, H & M Signage, Steven & Craig who gave up some of their Sunday to remove the fireplace and basically spend their spare time up the top of a ladder!

There are more exciting things happening… watch this space!

Thanks to all our supporters, sponsors, parents, coaches, committee who all contribute to make our club a successful one!!

If you are interested in getting involved in the future of our Rugby Club come along to our AGM – Sunday 2 November, 2pm @ Apache Jacks. All welcome.
