New Anglican Dean installed

February 9, 2021 February 2021 No Comments

We are thrilled to announce that on Tuesday 2 February at 7pm Rev Peter Hull was installed as Deacon in Charge of the Parish of South Wairarapa. Our parish includes both St Andrew’s Martinborough and St John’s Featherston.

Pete’s installation service will take place at St Andrew’s. Bishop Justin Duckworth will be officiating at this service.

From now on Pete will be conducting services at both Martinborough and Featherston The Martinborough services will be on the first Sunday of each month starting 7 February. There is also a traditional service officiated by Archdeacon May Croft on the 4th Sunday of each month.

The Hull whanau are Pete, Anna, Eli (8yrs), Grace (5½), and Naomi (3yrs). They moved to the Wairarapa to live in Featherston in 2014 and spent the following few years growing the family and connecting with the local community. Pete was teaching at South Featherston primary school and Anna was involved with various local groups including Martinborough Playcentre.

During that time they also joined the church family at St John’s in Featherston and became actively involved in church life and the youth groups. When an opportunity arose to study at St John’s Theological College in Auckland, they took a leap of faith and moved the family to Auckland in 2019.

Over the past two years, Peter and Anna have both participated in the Ministry formation courses and Pete has completed the Diploma of Christian Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Theology. In November 2020 Pete was ordained as a Deacon at the Wellington Cathedral.

Pete and Anna say: “Our time away has been an incredible journey full of highs, lows and everything in between.  We feel very thankful for how it has stretched, grown and enriched us all.  We are very excited to be returning to the Wairarapa.”
