Kokomai Creative festival is pleased to announce an Opulent Objects Upcycled Fashion Exhibition and Workshops, brought to you by David Roil of Hand Sewn Atelier on Sunday 22nd November 2020..

The exhibition will be held at the beautiful Greytown Town Centre Forum located at 89 High Street, Greytown, on Sunday 22nd November 2020, from 10am to 5pm. Two workshops, one at 10am -1pm and another at 2pm-5pm will also be held at the venue at the cost of $30 per workshop. Tickets available from Eventfinda https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2020/opulent-objects-fashion-exhibition-and-workshops/greytown

With a background in costume, theatre, television, and film David Roil puts his experience into creating stunning upcycled fashion using a methodology that uses no patterns, very little cutting and no industrial processes in the creation of his work. All fashion is created by hand stitching and draping, to create astonishing objects of fashion art.  Along with reimagining workaday clothing, David uses curtains, bedspreads, tablecloths, and blankets to transform them into forward thinking fashion that has appeared on runways such as Melbourne Fashion Week,  Wellington Fashion Week, The Indigenous Runway Project Collection (Melbourne), and he has also appeared at local Oversew Fashion Event in Carterton.

Kokomai Creative Festival is focused on inspiring and entertaining our communities and visitors to the Wairarapa by delivering world class, diverse, accessible creative events and experiences. In 2020, our ‘off festival’ year, we bring you three creative offerings. Opulent Objects from David Roil, Kazoo by Tangata Circus, an interactive acrobatic circus – centered around a piano – in Carterton.  And Films in a Field, a New Zealand Short Film Festival in Masterton.
