Play with your Food and Wine

August 8, 2016 August 2016 No Comments

Match_2016Forget what your mother said, you can play with your food. And wine. MATCH pop-up wine bar is back for Wellington on a Plate, 12-28 August. Because pop-ups can pop up anywhere, this year the region’s wineries are partnering with Noble Rot, Wellington’s hottest new wine bar.

Please pop in and bring your city friends to share the experience. Open from midday to midnight, you can book a lunch table or just drop in for a glass of wine. Maybe before or after another WOAP event?

In Swan Lane, it’s in the heart of Cuba Street (next to Floriditas).

Noble Rot host Maciej (“Magic”) Zimny is a huge fan of our regional wines. Polish-born, he loves having world-class wines right on his doorstep and is the 2015 Sommelier of the Year from his Hippopotamus days. Stylish Noble Rot opened only a month ago, and has rocketed in popularity.

Maciej has selected 40 wines from Martinborough and Gladstone. “I wanted to show off the range, versatility and sheer quality of premium boutique local wines, matched with our beautiful food. Only these wines are on the New Zealand wine list for WOAP.

“We have an impressive selection of flagship Pinot Noir, of course, and other classics, but also some very interesting lesser known varieties and innovative blends. Something for all tastes.

“Forget old rules about wine and food. We encourage guests to be brave and bold with their wine and food matches, so all wines are available by the tasting glass or in a ‘flight’ of four different wines,” he smiled.

“I’m really excited about this, and especially the chance to mix and match the great food and excellent wine that Maciej has put together.  An awesome line-up,” added Jeremy Corban (Big Sky Wines) and Chair of Wines From Martinborough.www.facebook.com/MatchWineBar
