Setting up to catch the Noctourism wave

February 21, 2025 February 2025 No Comments

Nocturnal + tourism equals a new and leading trend in world tourism, rated the No. 1 new attraction and reported by the BBC as the coming opportunity.

It has been named Noctourism.

In a report setting out what industry pundits describe as “the seven travel trends that will shape 2025,” the organisation lists “Noctourism” as the top new tourism option in a key list of seven.

Three top travel groups, UK’s Trailfinders, world leading travel forecast agency Globetrender and consumer behaviour analyst Concept Bureau, all see night-time activity as a potential game-changer for tourism which has now returned to pre-Covid levels in many parts of the globe.

So, from star-gazing, late-opening museums and bioluminescent beaches to northern/southern lights watching, Noctourism is shaping into a new global trend.

Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve is helping the Wairarapa region position it’s dark skies to maybe catch some of the hoped-for wave.
