Southern Netball sprung into action for another season on a bright blue winter’s morning on Saturday7th May. Everyone is enthusiastic about how the season has begun, following a few gatherings and practices the junior teams were played their first games.

Junior netball is being coordinated by Kim Whiteman, Nicholle Hawkins, Sarah Gadsby and Clem Hodgson and they are confident that numbers are set to grow.

A new approach this season sees our Future Ferns (Year ones and two’s) learning the skills and playing a modified game of netball on Tuesdays in Featherston. We have Pirinoa Pulse, Kahutara Kiwi’s and Martinborough Magic competing with Featherston. The Year 3 & 4 Swans, Year 5 & 6 Stars and Year 7 & 8 Steel compete at Kuranui College on Saturday mornings.

Teams are looking sharp in their new blue uniforms sponsored by Trusthouse and Martinborough Community Board who we give a huge thank you! Also to the Pukemanu who are set to have their Speight’s Annual Duck Shooters Dinner supporting junior netball this year! If you haven’t got your tickets yet please call 06 306 9606 and book now!

Congratulations to our lucky Easter raffle winner Pammy, and to all those who supported us especially the team at Neighbourhood Café staff that bought our remaining tickets.

Huge thanks to our 2016 coaches and managers and umpires, Kim Holsted, Jo love, Ngahuia Barrs, Tam Williams, Sarah Gadsby, Kim Whiteman, Tara Calkin and Clem Hodgson.
