TUHIRANGI JAB RUGBY

October 3, 2018 October 2018, Sports No Comments

The 2018 Tuhirangi JAB rugby season has come to an end but we have had a great year.  We had approx. 45 children registered and they played across 6 different teams ranging from Under 6 Rippa through to the Under 13’s.

This year we had our own Tuhirangi Under 6 Rippa team, but the rest of our players had to combine with other clubs to make up the numbers.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Gladstone Rugby Club, Greytown Rugby Club and Martinborough Rugby Club for letting us combine with them to ensure all our JAB players could play in the appropriate grades.

We had a few successes for the season the first being our Under 8 players combining with Martinborough Under 8’s and this team won the grade and remained unbeaten all season.  Our Under 13 boys who joined with Gladstone Under 13’s also made the finals but unfortunately lost to come second in the grade.  We were very proud of the Tuhirangi JAB players who made selection for the Wairarapa Bush Representative teams.  The following players made their age appropriate teams:

Under 13’s – Sam Hislop

Under 12’s – Angus Jaspers and Kingston Love

Under 11’s – Tom Clarkson

The club was successful at the annual Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union awards evening, winning the Ron Hughes Junior Administer of the Year award.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for the work they have done during the 2018 season – Mark Clarkson (President), Mel Handyside (Treasurer), Victoria Shaw (Secretary).
