Waihinga Charitable Trust Winds Up

April 12, 2021 April 2021 No Comments

On the 8th December the Trustees of the Waihinga Charitable Trust resolved to wind up the Trust at the end of the financial year. The Waihinga Centre, Park and Playground are complete and the Trust has received and passed on all pledges and donated funds to the South Wairarapa District Council.

The Trustees have completed their task and the Trust has fulfilled its purpose. The Trust’s remaining funds and a recent very generous bequeath will be spent on the Playground and the Waihinga Centre under the direction of the Trustees.

The Trustees are very happy and proud of the outcome and thank everyone who donated, assisted and supported the Waihinga Centre and Playground development. It would never have been possible without the generosity of these people in our community.

The Trust also thanks the Council and past Councils for allowing us to partner with them in the development and completion of the Waihinga Centre project. The trust also acknowledges all the external funders for their support; Lotteries, ECCT, Trust House and many more.

It is very gratifying to see the facility being so well used by our community and visitors, especially families. Having a refurbished historic Town Hall with the new addition housing our Library, I Site, Plunket and Toy Library, as well as the revamped playground is proving to be a great asset for the wider community and a very functional hub for future generations to enjoy.
