NATIONWIDE HEALTH AND DISABILITY ADVOCACY SERVICE

Free support or guidance with resolving your concerns about a Health or Disability Service.

We are lucky to have the services of Connor Clerkin , an advocate with this organisation , who will help people in the Wairarapa . Connor spoke at the Wairarapa bureau recently and clarified for volunteers what this service does.

Your Rights when receiving a Health or Disability Service are :

Respect / Fair Treatment / Dignity & Independence / Proper Standards / Communication / Information / It’s Your Decision / Support / Teaching & Research / Complaints

More detailed information about the Code of Rights and Health & Disability Commissioner is available by visiting www.hdc.org.nz or by contacting the Nationwide Health and Disability Advocacy Service on phone 0800 555 050 or email  advocacy@advocacy.org.nz

This service operates independently of the Commissioner , the Ministry , purchasers , health care providers and disability services providers.

The advocates provide a free complaint resolution service and will support or guide you to express , and try to resolve your concerns directly with the provider of the service.

The advocates also promote awareness of the rigxhts of health and disability service consumers by providing free education to consumers, to those providing health and disability services and community groups.

We have two very good pamphlets at the Wairarapa Citizen’s Advice Bureau that this service provide so please let us know if you would like them .
