White socks
Many domesticated house cats have white ‘socks’ which are rarely seen in wild animals. About 10,000 years ago, as humans were becoming farmers and storing grains and foods , the progenitor species of house cats were used to control rodents.
This species known as Felis silvestris had a coat that blended well into wild habitat. However humans took to genetic mutations such as white paws, shaped ears and unique markings and bred these cats for domestic purposes
