Driving Growth and Collaboration: Martinborough Business Assn Committee

March 12, 2024 March 2024, Regular Features No Comments

The Martinborough Business Association Committee plays an important role in fostering economic growth and collaboration within the local business community.

With a mission to support and promote the interests of businesses in Martinborough, the committee works to create a vibrant and thriving business environment through leveraging tourism and visitors generally.

The association is a member of Destination Wairarapa, the regional tourism organisation. Our current chair has a seat on that Board. We ensure that our destination is promoted to domestic and international tourists. At the local level we promote member businesses through our website and social media platforms. STAY and PLAY is our mantra as we aim to get tourists to stay longer and spend more.

One of the key responsibilities of the committee is to organise networking events, workshops, and seminars that bring together business owners and professionals to exchange ideas, build relationships, and share best practices. These initiatives not only facilitate knowledge-sharing but also help businesses connect and collaborate for mutual benefit.

The Association entered into a partnership with Business Wairarapa (regional chamber of commerce) in 2022 through which our members have access to business development and capability products and services. Things like employment issues support, customer services training for staff and managers, digital training support and the like

The committee also acts as a liaison between local businesses and local and central government authorities, advocating for policies and initiatives that support the growth and development of  business. We work with businesses by representing the collective interests of businesses in Martinborough. The partnership with Business Wairarapa further strengthens this at the regional and national levels.

Additionally, the committee serves as a resource hub for businesses, providing information, and support to help them with challenges and highlighting opportunities. Whether it’s navigating regulatory requirements, accessing funding opportunities, or promoting local initiatives to visitors and tourists, the committee is committed to helping businesses to succeed.

In essence, the Martinborough Business Association Committee serves as an agent for economic development through collaboration with other industry bodies, Destination Wairarapa and Business Wairarapa. Through its proactive efforts and strategic initiatives, the committee continues to make a positive impact on the local business community, driving growth and benefits for all stakeholders.

The Committee is currently chaired by Allan Hogg and its members are Conor Kershaw, Tim Smith, Dudley Ann Hill, Tanya Cowen, Taylor Dewis and Nicola Röckinger. Our secretary is Charlotte Harding. If you would like to know more, call Allan on 021609121 or email info@martinboroughnz.com
